Katie Mayes has been a teacher for 26 years with the last 23 years being spent at Mitchell Elementary. She has taught 4th and 2nd grades but the majority of her years have been spent in 1st grade. She has recently accepted a position as intervention teacher/reading coach. She is married to Carey Mayes
Ms. Towns is an alumnus of Mitchell Elementary School and Emma Sansom High School. She has a BS in Physical Education (k-12) from Jacksonville State University. This is Ms. Towns’s 34th year teaching in the Gadsden City School System; 32 of those have been at Mitchell. Ms. Towns enjoys all types of sports and anything
Mrs. Weaver earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Jacksonville State University and her Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from The University of West Alabama. Mrs. Weaver is married to Rocky and they have a son, Carson. Mrs. Weaver enjoys spending time with her family and watching her son play baseball.
Mrs. Fant taught in the classroom for 14 years, 12 of which were in the Gadsden City School System. She has taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade and is now the Media Specialist at Mitchell Elementary. Mrs. Day is in her 27th year of teaching music in public schools, starting at Gadsden City, then teaching at Etowah Middle and High Schools for 14 years.
